• Everything is Bigger in Texas

Wow! It was no lie when it was said that NFTY Convention 2019 would be the Ultimate NFTY Event™. With the help of NFTY MAR (Mid- Atlantic Region) and my congregation I was able to Be Apart of Something Big™. I will never forget my time in Dallas with my Jewish friends. Convention was like a MAR event times nineteen, with each region adding its own flair and excitement to the experience. The weekend was set up as a totally personalized involvement, from opt-in programs to chosen off-sites.

  • MLK and Mi Chamocha: How We Seek Freedom by Challenging the Status Quo

It is so fitting that Winter Kallah, MLK Weekend, and this week’s Parsha, Beshalach, all line up. Not only do they all fall on the same week this year, but the portion and King’s speech parallel one another. Beshalach represents freedom, as it here in the Torah that the Mi Chamocha originates, but it also represents pushing forward in the face of struggle. • NFTY-MAR: Spring Kallah 2015 D’Var Torah – Tazria Metzora

This week’s parsha, Tazria and Metzora, continues the discussion of the laws of tumah v’taharah, ritual purity and impurity. First, outlined is childbirth. If a women gives birth to a boy she will be impure for a total of 40 days, yet for a girl she will be impure for a total of 80. Ding, ding, ding. Off goes my NFTY alarm.

  • How I Brought EIE Home

The spring semester of my sophomore year of high school, I went on NFTY-EIE High School in Israel. I initially found out about the program through a friend of mine in my temple youth group (TYG) who had gone the previous year. After learning more, I was enthralled!
