  • URJ Summer Program: What I Learned on Mitzvah Corps

    Most Jewish people have the opportunity to go to Israel at least once in their life. Only a fraction of these people experience Israel the way I had the chance to this summer. On Mitzvah Corps Israel, we saw more than the average tour. We had challenging discussions, met people from countries I did not even know existed, and saw the “hidden gems” of the country.

  • URJ Summer Program: What I Learned on Mitzvah Corps

    These wise words of Brock from Nola Green Roots has stuck with me ever since I stepped out of Wise Words garden. This past summer, I had the opportunity to go to New Orleans with the URJ Mitzvah Corps program. While there, we worked with 4 organizations: Global Green, cleaning out storm drains; Arc, organizing Mardi Gras beads; Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, working on building houses with local teens; and Nola Green Roots, taking apart a garden so it could be relocated.

  • URJ Summer Program Experience: What I Learned at the Kutz Camp

    I spent this summer at the URJ Kutz Camp in Warwick, New York in the Social Action Major. While there, we take a trip to New York City. When it was finally time to go, my teacher, Avra, announced our trip day activity would be feeding the elderly at a community center. I was disappointed. Other majors were going to have fun, but I was stuck feeding the elderly! I couldn’t think of one good result.
